Spring Clean Your Wardrobe

Oh yes the sun is out, we have all been shaken to our cores with this earthquake.  So what better time to get your summer clothes out and look to spring clean your wardrobe again.  Here are some of the top tips I have for cleaning out your wardrobe and making way for the new spring purchases:

  1. Empty your entire wardrobe onto your bed – yes that is everything – shoes, socks the lot!  If there is too much for your bed then do it section by section but make sure EVERYTHING comes out.
  2. Throw away the following:
    1. ugly bridesmaids dresses you have never worn since and are not likely wear again,
    2. anything too small you are ‘waiting ‘ to fit into,
    3. anything too big that you have shrunk out of,
    4. anything you have never felt right in,
    5. gifted garments that look awful,
    6. garments that are the wrong colour,
    7. anything pilled, holey or that had lost its shape,
    8. anything over 10 years old (unless it is in mint condition)
    9. any garments that ‘pull’ in the wrong places (boobs, crotch, tummy, bottom or upper thigh)
    10. Keep –
      1. garments that you feel fab in,
      2. garments that are in good condition,
      3. anything that holds  real sentimental value to you (aim for no more than 5 of these),
      4. new garment that you wear regularly,
      5. classics that are of good quality, garments that fit you well and suit your colouring (remember that black suits only 25% of us near the face).
      6. Make a mending pile and put garment without buttons, with the hems down and garment with holes which can be mended well aside and get mending.
      7. Make a wash pile – there is often one or two pieces that have slipped back in with a mark or two on them.. use the drycleaners if you need to as some garments are too delicate to wash…
