How to keep warm and stylish!

When the wind bites to the bone it is challenging enough to keep warm let alone think about looking stylish and well put together. There are a few secret weapons that will help you brave the cold weather and also look fantastic in our coldest months of the year.

Here are my top tips for looking good and feeling toasty warm:

1. Wear singlets – merino and fine, two or three if need be.
2. Put socks over your tights inside your boots! The thickest warmest are all good.
3. Don’t be afraid to wear accessories. They can be a part of your outfit. Scarves, gloves and hats. Make sure they blend with your look. It is now very acceptable to wear a scarf to work and keep it on for the day. Of course if Nana knitted it and it fluffs into your mouth when you talk you need to hang it up with the coat. But a fine merino or silk option is great in both winter and the spring when the weather is warming up.
4. Accessories are a good way to introduce colour to your outfit. If your coat is black then add coloured accessories.
5. Hats are an amazing way to keep you warm. So how to we prevent hat hair? Choose hats that are more beret like. They don’t compress your hair and you can shake the style out when you take your hat off. Take your face shape into consideration – if you have a long thin face then a more beret like hat will be flattering. If your face is square shaped or fuller then a hat like a beanie is going to look more flattering.
6. Make your coat a feature of your outfit. A coloured or interesting coat means that if you are to cold to take it off your still look amazing. Buy the best coat your can afford! There are some excellent sales on right now.

So wrap up, keep warm and look stylish at the same time!

School holidays next week so I will check in the following week to discuss how to deal with kids who are difficult to dress. Todays images are from Max and Andrea moore.
