Hourglass
The Hourglass, this is the ideal female body-type however as you all know many of us are not ideal.
So how do you tell you are an hourglass? It is all in the shoulders and the hips. Take a good long look in the mirror and check out the width of your shoulder – does it equal or just surpass the width of your hips or are your hips a lot bigger? If they are pretty much equal and you have a good defined waist you are more than likely an hourglass. So to confirm your hourglass shape you should check 4 of the five points below:
1. Carry weight in hips, thighs and sometimes bust
2. Small defined waist – last place weight goes on
3. Often have a fuller bottom
4. Shoulder and hips same visual or measured width
5. Have square or broad shoulders and back
So what to buy?
1. Tops that accentuate the upper body like stripes etc.
2. Wider legged or tapered pants. A tight, light leg causes the thighs to look like stuffed sausage skins in many cases (mine included!)
3. Darker colours downstairs and lighter colours on the upper body
4. Slim or close fitting tops
5. Cropped jackets
6. Dresses
What to avoid:
1. Tight, light trousers
2. Tulip shaped skirts
3. Hotpants (if you are over a size 8!)
4. Skirts and trousers that cling around the legs, bottom and thighs
