Big Shoulders – how to wear this trend!

For those of us blessed with bigger thighs and bottoms this is a fantastic trend as it draws attention up, up, up and away from the lower body.  Pretty much every designer from chainstore to boutique  has done a take on this trend whether with a simple frill,  a little capped puff sleeve or the full hog leg of mutton sleeve.  Here is my advice for each body type on how to wear this trend and what to look for:

1.    Hourglass (X) and pear (A) – embrace this trend – go for anythinhg that balances the lower body and increases the width of the shoulder as it makes the legs and bottom look smaller. This was designed for your body type.
2.    Rectange (H)  – You are our ladies who are thicker in the middle.  Make sure your top with shoulders is well shaped to give you a waist.  I would suggest an empire line that skims though the waist rather than hangs.
3.    Inverted Triangle (V) – You need to be very wary of this trend as you already have broad shoulders.  I would suggest a gentle frill or gather but nothing more.  If you are a fuller figured V shape then keep the eye in the centre of your top and avoid this trend.
